About

Oh hi! My name is Alex, and I LOVE sharing things that bring me JOY! After a very eclectic work history, marrying the love of my life, two beautiful girls, and years of waiting to share all that I am passionate about, Sweetly Petite was born!

On my site you will find yummy recipes, seasonal home decor & florals, lots of party planning ideas and tips, and favorite finds that I am obsessed with (like the viral Costco hoodies…iykyk!).

My hope is to help people find all the joy that life has to offer…because life certainly is sweet!

Why Sweetly Petite?

My maiden name is French and directly translates to “sweet and petite!” I am 5’2 on a good day and do my very best to be sweet! If we disagree on that one…we can chalk up the sweet part to my love of baking. 😉

What’s Your Background?

Ohhhhh like I said, it certainly is eclectic!

  • I started blogging in high school. I lost access to my blog (HEARTBREAKING) for years and recently was able to recover all of my posts! While they are mostly private, I cherish them deeply. I love to write and so much of my life is in those posts; it is essentially a journal of some critical times in my life: moving out in high school due to living in an abusive household, college, living abroad in England, and more.
  • I studied business management at university (Go Cougs!). I wrote for the school newspaper for a semester because I genuinely love to write, even though it is not what I majored in (note…I did switch majors 6 times? 7? It was a lot).
  • Work has been so many fun things over the years! Including, but not limited to…working at a bakery whose creator won cupcake wars, managing the office for a chain of salons, a “do-all” for a nutrition specialist food blogger, a sponsor liaison for a food conference, and more!
  • I. Love. To. Cook. I remember wanting to make my family dinner in kindergarten. The smell of nutmeg still reminds me of that day (while I DID make my family dinner, we did NOT eat it. It was a combination of eggs, Kraft slices, and nutmeg. A lot of nutmeg. Amongst other things). I received many a cookbooks for gifts as an older child/teenager and LOVED them; the most memorable one was a dessert cookbook that looked like a can of sweetened condensed milk. I made just about every single one of those recipes. I would cook for my friends in high school, making up recipes like my “Man Catching Mac and Cheese” and “Man Catching Sugar Cookie Bars” (it’s okay…you’re allowed to facepalm. I still am lol).

  • After 20+ years of cooking, recipe development, and winning awards for my recipes/cooking, I am here to share my scrappy home-cooked goodness with you, along side my other passions and hobbies, like having a hygge home and throwing fun parties! I find so much joy and expression in cooking!
