Blueberry Peach Salad with Basil

Say hello to a thoughtfully crafted fruit salad that hits all the right notes! This Peach Fruit Salad is sweet, tart, a little tangy, and even a touch herbaceous. Trust me, this combination is a total winner.

Living on the Central/Southern California border, we are blessed with an abundance of fresh fruit. There is nothing like visiting your backyard and plucking a ripe, juicy peach off the tree and enjoying it in a dish only 10 minutes later. It’s magical.

One of my favorite collaborations is stone fruit with basil. It just WORKS. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with this Basil and Peach Fruit Salad combo that’s not only bursting with flavor, but it’s also ridiculously pretty. The flavors play off each other beautifully, and that little hint of basil? It’s the secret ingredient that elevates this from ordinary to extraordinary. *CHEF’S KISS*

It’s perfect for everything from a light brunch on the patio to a refreshing side at your next barbecue. Every time I’ve made it for a dinner, dropping off food to a friend, etc. it gets RAVE reviews. So let’s jump in, shall we?!

  • The Flavor Symphony: The sweetness of the peaches, berries, and honey, the tartness of the lime and pomegranate, and that surprising hint of basil create a truly unique and delicious flavor profile.
  • It’s a Looker: The vibrant colors of the fruit and the pop of red from the pomegranate seeds contrasted with the bright green basil make this salad visually appealing.
  • Naturally Sweetened: We’re using the natural goodness of the fruit with just a TINY drizzle of honey!
  • That Basil Though: Seriously, don’t skip the basil! It adds a fresh, slightly peppery note that elevates the entire salad.
  • Fresh, Ripe Peaches: The star of the show! Look for peaches that give just slightly to the touch and smell wonderfully fragrant. If we don’t have peaches on our tree (the neighborhood raccoons fancy ours), then we try to get local peaches from our favorite “U-Pick” farm. They have such cool varieties of peaches, like Saturn, Donut, and Redhaven!
  • Blackberries: These add a lovely dark fruitiness and a bit of texture.
  • Blueberries: Small but mighty bursts of flavor and antioxidants.
  • Vibrant Pomegranate Seeds: These little jewels add a delightful pop of tartness and a gorgeous visual element. You can do fresh pomegranates and “de-seed” yourself, or check to see if your local grocery store carries the pomegranate seed fruit cups in the deli/grab and go section OR frozen pomegranate seeds. I love having the frozen kind on hand because I can defrost and use bits here and there when I need them.
  • Honey: A touch of natural sweetness that ties everything together. If you can find some orange blossom honey, even better!
  • Fresh Lime Juice: Brightens up the whole salad and prevents the peaches from browning too quickly.
  • Fresh Basil: Thinly sliced. Trust me on this one! It adds an unexpected but totally delicious aromatic note.
  1. Prep the Peaches: Gently wash your peaches, slice them in half, remove the pit, and then cut them into bite-sized wedges or chunks. If your peaches are super ripe, be careful not to handle them too roughly.
  2. Combine the Berries: In a large bowl, gently combine the sliced peaches, blackberries, blueberries, and pomegranate seeds.
  3. The Sweet & Tangy Drizzle: In a small bowl or directly over the fruit, drizzle the honey and squeeze the fresh lime juice. Start with a little and you can always add more to your taste.
  4. The Basil Magic: Right before serving, thinly slice your fresh basil leaves (chiffonade style – roll them up and slice thinly) and sprinkle them over the fruit salad. This releases the amazing aroma and flavor.
  5. Gentle Toss: Gently toss everything together to coat the fruit with the honey-lime dressing and distribute the basil. Be careful not to mash the delicate fruit.
  6. Serve and Enjoy!

Can you make Fruit Salad with Peaches ahead of time?

This salad is best enjoyed fresh, but you can prep the fruit a little ahead of time. When you are ready to serve, slice the basil and lightly toss.

Blueberry and Peach Salad Variations

  • Swap your stone fruit. Peaches are definitely my favorite, but this is also great with nectarines and plums. You could even try apricots!
  • Give it some creaminess: There is nothing quite like the combination of peaches and burrata. Try tossing in a bit or some fresh mozzarella.
  • Extra tang: Add a splash of balsamic vinegar to give this salad more depth and zing!

How to store

This salad is definitely one that is best served fresh. Peaches don’t always keep terribly well once sliced into. You can try storing in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Just know your peaches my brown!

Next time you’re craving something light, refreshing, and bursting with the flavors of summer (especially those amazing CA peaches!), give this Peach Fruit Salad a try. I promise, it’s going to be your new favorite too! Enjoy!
